Thematic Festival Evening on Water Protection and Sustainable Use, August 27th, starting at 7 PM at the basketball court near the high schools (VIDEO)

Within the project “Environmental Response to Mining Expansion in Timčka Krajina,” funded by the EU and implemented by the Association “Za Drinking Fountains” and partner organizations from Bor and Zaječar, a thematic Festival Evening will be organized in Zaječar. The event will feature an inclusive performance by young artists, screenings of ecological films, and a panel discussion. The festival is scheduled for Sunday, August 27th, starting at 7 PM, at the basketball court near the high schools in Zaječar. The theme of this year’s festival is water protection and sustainable water usage.

The audience will have the opportunity to premiere a film program presented as a special edition of the International Festival of Environmental and Tourism Film SILAFEST, which has been held for 15 years on the Danube River in Veliko Gradište. The film program will open with the documentary “Living Water,” produced by the Association “Za Drinking Fountains” and executive production by “Za Media.” This is the third and final part of the KAP trilogy, addressing the protection of artesian wells in Zaječar and the efforts of our fellow citizens to preserve this natural resource. Following that, films selected from the 15th SILAFEST lineup will be screened, including: “Pollution of the Danube with Fecal Waters” (Serbia); “Mining in Serbia – the Chinese Way” (Serbia); “Municipal Waste on the Lim River” (Serbia); “Salt Sellers” (Iran); and “Belgrade Lakes – 10 Years Later.”

After the films, there will be a public forum on water protection. Ecological activists and experts in the field of environmental protection and youth engagement will speak, and the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and actively participate in the discussion.
