Fountain near the “Kablovi” football field
The water is safe for drinking
The fountain was built in 1987 as one of three fountains connected to the same artesian well, formed by an exploratory borehole drilled in 1984 in the courtyard of the “Maslačak” kindergarten. The water was initially used for the needs of this institution and was later distributed through a supply network to public fountains in the immediate surroundings: the fountain near the “Kablovi” playground, the fountain in the courtyard of the “Maslačak” kindergarten, the fountain in the courtyard of the “Hajduk Veljko” primary school, and the fountain in 14th Serbian Shock Brigade Street. The exploratory borehole project was designed by geologist Dragoljub Šarčević, while the works were carried out by the company “Georad” from Zaječar.
Over time, the fountain’s concrete pedestal completely deteriorated, leaving its above-ground structure non-functional and inadequate for water collection.
The fountain was restored in 2026 as part of the Project for the Reconstruction and Revitalization of the Artesian Fountains of Zaječar, implemented by the City of Zaječar, HEINEKEN Serbia, and the Association “Za Drinking Fountain”. During the works, the damaged concrete above-ground structure was removed, the surrounding area was paved with granite setts, and a new cast-iron fountain was installed.
